Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a procedure to remove the infected pulp or tissues of a tooth. After removal remaining space is cleaned, filled and shaped. This filling protects the tooth from future microbial infection.
Root canal refers to the natural cavity occurred within the center of the tooth. There is the soft core inside the tooth called dental pulp. This dental pulp extends from the crown to the tip of the tooth’s root.
This pulp consist of nerves, connective tissues and blood vessels in it. When a tooth has cracks or a deep cavity, then bacteria enter in this pulp leading to formation of abscess or even tooth loss if remain untreated.
An abscess is the pus-filled pocket which are formed at the root of the tooth. This abscess can cause further infections in the tooth. It is treated by doing root canal treatment of the tooth.
